Summer Vacation - The Realm of Plants
Become a plant guardian at Planternes Rige this summer: Discover the incredible powers hidden in trees, flowers, and roots. Here, you can look forward to a day filled with bushcraft, fun challenges, and lots of play.
Experience the Kingdom of Plants every day during weeks 27–32. The summer vacation is designed for children and their families ages 5 and up.

Become a Plant Guardian During Summer Break
During summer vacation, the whole family can set out on an adventure together to become Plant Guardians: You’ll face challenges, follow clues, and discover the incredible powers hidden in trees, flowers, and roots. Along the way, you’ll meet the Tree of Wisdom, which will help you on your mission.
As you journey through the Kingdom of Plants, you’ll learn new skills inspired by bushcraft, natural crafts, and ancient knowledge. You can carve wood, make cord from plants, experiment with charcoal burning, learn about medicinal herbs, and discover how plants have shaped human life over the centuries.
The Kingdom of Plants was developed especially for children and the young at heart, ages 5 and up
What can you experience?
When you arrive at the Kingdom of Plants at Klosterhaven, you’ll be given a Plant Guardian Book and a Plant Guardian Bag to help you on your mission for the day. From there, it’s up to you to decide how the adventure will unfold.
Along the way, you can, among other things:
- Char charcoal over a campfire and make drawing charcoal
- Learn about medicinal herbs and make healing herbal ointments
- Wood carving and working with natural materials
- Make a string from stinging nettles
- Compete with the trees’ roots to draw water from the ground
- Solve the riddle that will determine whether you can become Plant Guardians
You can enjoy the activities at your own pace, and you decide for yourselves how much time you want to spend at each station. Some families spend a couple of hours, while others make “The Kingdom of Plants” the centerpiece of a full day at Esrum Kloster & Møllegård.
Once the mission is complete, the final test awaits at the old maple tree, where new plant guardians can be admitted into the Kingdom of Plants

“The Kingdom of Plants” is just one of many experiences to enjoy during the summer vacation at Esrum Kloster & Møllegård.

- Every Sunday: Experience the mill in operation at Esrum Watermill
- Say hello to the sheep in the monastery meadow
- Playing at the nature playground
- Experience the exhibition “An Eye for Landscape”— and create a landscape tapestry
- Visit the monastery

- Enjoy lunch, coffee, or cake at Møllecaféen
- Visit the Monastery Shop, which has something for mom, dad, and the kids
