Summer vacation: School for Alchemists
Step into a mysterious world this summer at the School for Alchemists. Children will learn to master the powers of the four elements through a series of fun family activities that put the elements in their hands.
Try lots of fun summer activities where all the senses come into play and learn what an alchemist is.
The School for Alchemists
This summer, the famous alchemist Nicolas Flamel is looking for apprentices to master the four elements of earth, fire, air and water.
An alchemist is described as a sorcerer and a scientist, and they were highly regarded in the Middle Ages. Alchemists know how to harness the powers of nature, and like Nicolas Flamel’s apprentices, kids need to hold the elements in their hands to truly understand their powers.
The children will build a fire, heat popcorn over the haet and blow soap bubbles through a ring track. They’ll get their feet wet, plant seeds in the soil and try their hand at our fun and challenging water course.
The kids have to use all their senses – taste, hear, see and touch to find special magical signs that will lead them to Flamel’s final secret test. If they pass, they will be able to call themselves true alchemists.
The School for Alchemists is primarily aimed at school-age children, but all ages can join in.
Explore and play in the nature playground
Esrum Abbey & Møllegård is located in some of North Zealand’s most beautiful nature. It is therefore ideal to go for a walk in the area. In the shop you can find inspiration and different routes. There are shorter trips for the little ones and longer routes for the more experienced hikers.
Next to the abbey is the Nature Playground, which is always a sure hit with the kids. At the Nature Playground you can pretend you live in a medieval village. Ride the farmer’s pigs or attack the fortress.
There’s a zip line, oversized pigeon loft, swing, cross-fit track and much more. Here you can also sit in the shade and eat packed lunches.
Kid-friendly lunch and in-store temptations
As always, the Mill Café offers locally produced meals in season. Try the hot smoked salmon, smoked in our own smoker, or a classic lunch plate, available in both adult and children’s versions. The café also serves hot and cold drinks and has a large selection of cakes.
Finish off with a visit to the shop, which has something for mom, dad and kids alike. You’ll find toys, books, beer, soaps, French delicacies and more. In the fridge there is delicious Hansen ice cream that you can enjoy together outside on the benches.
