A Reformation game
7th to 9th grade
What would happen if you could decide the course of history?
A time of rebellion
The German monk Martin Luther posted his famous theses on the church door in Wittenberg in 1517, starting a movement that led to the Reformation of the Danish Church in 1536 and the abolition of the monasteries.
But was the Reformation only about faith? Or is it also about who has the power: the Church or the King? The nobility or the citizens?
How to play
As representatives of a fictional noble family, students must make choices, forge alliances and take actions that will guide their family through the turbulent period leading up to the Reformation. Ultimately, it is they who decide whether or not Denmark is reformed.
The game’s framework is made up of a series of actual events and historical figures. But as the game develops and the students make their fateful choices, they will determine the course of history.
