Specialty beers brewed with passion
Esrum Kloster Beer Festival celebrates good specialty beer: We have invited a lot of talented Danish breweries that not only brew excellent beer, but also have something to say and want something with their beer.
Meet breweries from all over the country, taste their specialty beers and talk about hops, yeast, flavorings and much more. The brewers are behind the taps themselves, so you can hear the stories behind the beers and learn about the craftsmanship in the glass.
If you swing by the craft breweries, for which Esrum Kloster has a special place, you’re guaranteed to taste something you’ve never tasted before. They experiment with both ingredients and styles, and there’s always something new to discover.
Esrum Kloster Beer Festival is also a cozy day in the monastery landscape, where there is plenty of time to explore the brewers. There’s no stress and no short tasting slots – just a whole day dedicated to good beer, good conversation and lots of fun.
Food and entertainment
At Esrum Kloster Beer Festival, there’s room for good conversation, laughter and lots of fun. The beer festival is much more than just a beer tasting:
The festival site spreads out on the green areas around the monastery where you can settle down. Grab a beer and a bite to eat and enjoy the atmosphere with your friends – old and new.
The food stalls in the area offer both hot and cold dishes, and around the area you can also buy small snacks that are perfect to take out into the area.
The large party tent offers entertainment throughout the day, and if you need a little exercise between tastings, you can also challenge your friends in the games area with mini golf and other fun games
We toast to nature
Esrum Kloster & Møllegård is beautifully situated in the middle of the Kongernes Nordsjælland National Park, surrounded by forest, lake and open landscapes. Here nature becomes part of the festival experience. At the festival site you can sit down on the grass with a beer and some food – and enjoy the summer atmosphere under the open sky.
Holding a beer festival at a monastery makes perfect sense. In the Middle Ages, beer played an important role in monastic life. The monks brewed their own beer, which was part of their everyday diet. The monks were among the most skilled brewers of the time and helped develop and refine beer brewing.
When Esrum Monastery hosts a beer festival today, it is also a small nod to history. Here, today’s brewers and beer enthusiasts meet in the same surroundings where beer brewing and fellowship have been part of everyday life in the Middle Ages – only now with modern specialty beers in the glass and a summer atmosphere in the air
