I drive to the area myself. Where can I park?
If you drive into Esrum town via Esrum main street, you cannot drive through the area to our parking lot. In Esrum town there are parking options on public roads. It is not possible to park in Klostergade towards the monastery.
Parking in our own parking lot via Frederiksværksvej 205 is free of charge. We are working on getting charging stations for electric cars.
Can I access the area in a wheelchair or with a walker?
There are disabled parking spaces in the parking lot and a disabled elevator in the Water Mill. There is also a disabled toilet in Klostergården, as well as ramps to Møllecaféen and Klosterbutikken. But let’s be honest: it’s hard to get around many places in a wheelchair. In the monastery building itself, there are only stairs and there are cobblestones in the courtyard.
Admission is free on presentation of a companion card.
Can I use the area with a stroller or pushchair?
Yes, but it can be difficult to get to different parts of the site: there are many stairs in the monastery building itself and there are cobblestones in the courtyard.
Where can I find the toilet facilities/changing area?
There are toilets in the Møllecaféen, inside the monastery building and in the Water Mill. There is a baby changing station in the disabled toilet in Klostergården.
How do I connect to your guest Wi-Fi?
There is free guest Wi-Fi inside the buildings. Turn on Wi-Fi on your phone and select ‘Esrum Gæstenet’.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are always welcome, but must be kept on a leash at all times. In front of the monastery shop is a dog bar for thirsty canine friends. Dogs are not allowed in our indoor areas. Please note that the animal pens at the parking lot are reserved for horses and sheep. If there are no animals in the pens, it can be used by dogs and their owners, but not otherwise.
I'm coming on horseback. Where can it stay while I visit the area?
We have two fenced pens by the parking lot. If we have sheep in one pen, put the horse in the other pen.
I have left a personal item with you. Where should I go?
Send us an email at kloster@esrum.dk or visit the monastery shop in person.
